The PowderRoom – It’s what the ladies love!
Encouraged by the growing number of female snow enthusiasts, the crew at The Boardroom knew they needed to dedicate more time and effort because of this newfound demographic. Snowboard companies, heeding the cry of women everywhere, started making women’s-specific boards, boots, bindings, clothes and accessories.
In 2004, The Boardroom underwent major renovations. By moving the repair shop to the new addition in the back, it allowed them to transfer the rental room over — leaving a large section of the building empty. Spearheaded by clothing buyer and manager Samantha, the PowderRoom was born. The genesis of the idea came from Samantha and Jodie themselves; as women snowboarders, they thought about how awesome it would be for a local shop to have a room dedicated to women.
What the PowderRoom is about
As a fashion merchandising major, Samantha has the eye for what should go where, what outfits go together best and how effective certain layouts would be. With lighting and gridwall installed by Mike and Spencer, this labor of love began to make every day a ladies day. The Boardroom knew that as more girls started snowboarding, there needed to be a room dedicated entirely to them.
