Ellicottville is a pretty cool place to visit
Don’t get caught up in the BS about the ‘Aspen of the East’ or ‘Straight out of a postcard.’ Ellicottville is an awesome place to visit for one reason: the atmosphere. That consists of the people that live here, the people that work here, the people that come visit, the bars, the restaurants, the resorts and everything else. This place was founded by Joseph Ellicott in the 1800s, which is pretty strong. There’s a lot of history here — just look below the surface.
People come from all over to visit Ellicottville. Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Toronto, Ecuador, China. It’s like an international party! There are tons of bars, places to eat and things to do. In the mood to rage? Head into town where the beer flows like wine. Hungry? There are tons of places to eat — something for everyone!
Ellicottville is so much more than a resort town. You have way more options that you did, say, 5 or 10 years ago. While classics like Hoagies, The Gin Mill and Holiday Valley continue to provide epic service and fun, newcomers like Tim & Bonnie’s pizzeria (and accompanying bowling alley) and the Sky High Adventure Park only add to the entertainment value.
In this past year alone, Ellicottville has added over $30 million in renovations. In the grand scheme, that may not sound like a lot. But to us, 30 large is a big number. Between Holiday Valley’s brand new Main Lodge, EBC’s (Ellicottville Brewing Company, or the Brew Pub) additions and the bowling alley, this town is on the rise.
We don’t want you to think of Ellicottville as some ritzy, snob-nosed, ski chalet/Aspen inspired town. Because it’s not. This place was built on blue-collar workmanship of people past and present. We work hard and we play hard. It’s a lot of fun! Come in and see us and we’ll tell you the best spots to eat, drink and be merry.
